3ds Max: Bevel Modifier
3ds Max: Bevel Modifier. The Bevel modifier allows you to create beveled edges at the front and black of a shape. It also extrudes the object. Such a modifier is useful in creating beveled text in logo animations. This increases the mesh density by adding new faces, thereby creating an appealing visual effect to the object.
With Bevel modifier, you can set the Height and Outline values for up to three different bevel levels. The Keep Lines from Crossing option avoids problems that may result from crossing lines. The Bevel modifier is not found in the Modifiers menu. To apply the modifier, use the Modifier List drop-down list in the Modifier Stack. Below image displays an example of Bevel effect and the Bevel Values rollout.
Unlike Extrude modifier, Bevel provides the option of capping the object at its upper and lower extents. The sides can be set to linear or curved.
In the case of Bevel, the segment is applied between each level. The Smooth option is also available for smoothing groups across the level transition, which causes the object to render smoothly.
