V-ray common render settings

V-ray common render settings. Here is the generalised render settings for 3ds max and v-ray. You can use it in any of your scenes and get better quality 3D rendered images fast with good quality.

     Follow the steps given below to learn v-ray render settings.

  • open 3ds max.
  • You have to know proper light settings, so we have provided some basic v-ray light settings here.
  • Place v-ray light from create panel into your scene.
  • As shown in the below image We describe you which parameters you have to change.
  • Type: Plane
  • Multiplier: 1 (You can change the multiplier as per your scenes requirement. It can be increased or decreased)
  • Mode: Color
  • Color: #FFFFFF (You can change color mode and color as per your scenes requirement)

  • check on Invisible (If you don’t want to show the v-ray light in the rendered images.)
  • Uncheck Affect Reflections

  •  Subdivs: 24
  •  Resolution: 1024

     Now press F10 to open render setup. Set V-Ray as the current rendering engine (with the default V-Ray settings).

  • In the Image sampler rollout, switch the image sampler Type to Adaptive DMC. Set the Max subdivs to 8 ( This is the minimum requirement for good quality, but set this value to 20 to 100 for best quality output). Leave the Min. subdivs to 1. 
  • In the Environment rollout, turn on GI Environment(skylight) override and reflection/reftaction envitonment override. Set both multiplier to 1. 
  • In the color mapping rollout, set type to reinhard. Do not change any other value in it. Turn on Affect background and Don’t affect colors(adaptation only).

  • In the render settings window, open the Indirect Illumination tab. In the Indirect illumination rollout, Turn GI on, set the Primary GI engine to Irradiance map. Set the Secondary GI engine to light cache.
  • In the Irradiance map rollout, set High in Current preset option.
  • Set 80 in HSph. subdivs and set 40 in Interp. samples.(You can set this value more than this, but takes longer render times.)
  • Then turn Show calc. phase and Show direct light on.

  • In the light cache rollout, we will set calculations parameteres. Set Subdivs to 1000.(You can set this to 1500 also. Render time will increase.)
  • Set Number of passes to 8.(You can set it more than this value. Render time will increase.)
  • Turn Store direct light and Show calc. phase on. That’s It.
